Looking for a mouth-watering menu for your pub-themed party? Wondering what type of beer goes well with a slider? Well, Bobby Flay and I have the menu and brew for you!

First, let’s start with the appetizers… Yummy Grilled Stuffed Jalapeno Chiles with Grilled Red Pepper-Tomato Sauce… MMMMM! The cheese soothes the jalapeno’s spicy kick and unlike deep-fried jalapeno poppers the first bite will not scorch the roof of your mouth (unless you are impatient). To help ease the heat, try pairing this delicious appetizer with a Duvel beer.

Let’s move on to some protein. What better way to add protein in your diet than Chicken Wings with Red Hot Honey Glaze and Blue Cheese-Celery Dipping Sauce. The sweetness of the honey glazed wings can be enjoyed alone or dipped in sauce. Flay prepares the wings on a BBQ grill which adds extra flavor to the savory chicken. Your Duvel beer works well here, too. But, if you are looking for something a little different, try a Schloss Eggenberg Urbock 23.

Lastly, you gotta have MORE meat and potatoes! Sliders with Chipotle Mayonnaise and Vinegar and Salt Grilled Potatoes! Yum Yum! The sliders are tender and moist and the chipotle mayo adds a dash of smokiness to the mini-burgers. The potatoes are not your typically french fries! Like salt and vinegar potato chips, they are tangy and crunchy. Oh, will your mouth tingle! To add ying to the sliders and potatoes’ yang, try pairing these tasty treats with Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale. This beer will stand up to the assortment of flavors in your mouth as the inner Brit in you enjoys your pub-themed party food.

Football or Futbol? It is Football! American Football!

Sunday is the big day! The Pittsburgh Steelers vs. the Arizona Cardinals in Tampa Bay! And to help ease the pain of party planning, here are 10 tips to help you plan the party of the year for the game of the year!

1. So, you want to have a themed party? Make it a 40′s party! Load up the refrigerator with your favorite malt liquor and throw down! To make it extra special for your guests, provide brown paper bags for the finishing touches!

2. Sick of chips and salsa? Replace the salsa with some Pace Mexican Four Cheese Salsa con Queso and you are good to go! Dip that chip! It is so freakin’ good!

3. Hot Wings are a must for every house party! And when you wash down the heat with some beer…HEAVEN! If you live near a Kroger grocery store, try their store brand hot sauces. They are HOT as HELL and delicious!

4. Cookies are always a pleasant surprise when you go to a party! Pick up some Chunky Chocolate Chip Cookies from Costco! They taste like fancy pants gourmet cookies- but they’re not! Cheap and yummy- how awesome is that?

5. To pass the time during halftime, play some Jenga! Everyone’s favorite wood block game! Not only will you be at the ‘edge of your seat’ with fun, but you can watch your slightly intoxicated party-goer friends intensely concentrate on the tower of blocks!

6. Squares, squares, and more squares! Make sure your guests are ready to gambling and make some extra bucks! That’s right, Dolla Dolla Bills, Y’all!

7. If you are not interested in drinking beer from a paper bag, try drinking wine from a paper box! Yes, years ago we all called box wine, ‘White Trash Champagne’, but it has made a comeback! Try Black Box Wines to toast your team’s win! After all, it is award winning!

8. Have you ever had an Incredible Hulk? Next to the Rusty Beach, it is one of the best mixed drinks- EVER! Mix up some Hypnotic Liquor and Cognac and VOILA! You have an Incredible Hulk! Green and Mean!

9. Need some more snacks? Spinach dip with anything! Chips, crackers, chains, and whips, spinach dip tastes great! And who doesn’t want to bathe in it?!? It is sooo yummy! (Oh, and spinach is a great source of iron!)

10. Last, but not least, NEVER NEVER NEVER have a BYOB party! If you are going to have a party, do it right or don’t do it AT ALL! A case of beer is $20, you can spend $20! Your guests will more than likely bring a host (hostess) gift, so take it easy and supply the brews!

Wheat Beer Equals Big Head

Last night, I went out for a few beers and hot wings. The beer I picked to help ease the heat was Bell’s Winter White Ale. Not a smart choice. Spicy food is better paired with a light, cold beer. Preferably, a lager. This was just too wheaty!

Regardless of my bad choice, I drank. And drank. And I continued to drink. I went to bed with a full stomach and a buzz. After a few hours of having sugar- plums dance in my head, I woke up with the BIGGEST HEADACHE IN THE WORLD! It was awful! I felt like a bus parked on my head while the driver ate lunch. I immediately got out of bed to treat my dehydration. After two glasses of water, I went back to bed hoping my head would deflate. But, it didn’t. It got worse. So, I got up again and went straight to the medicine cabinet for the magic pill- ADVIL!

After a half hour of jamming my head into my pillow, my head started to feel a little smaller. Drowsiness started to kick in and I was able to sleep. The Advil worked! It saved the night and I woke up with no hang over.

The Lesson Learned: No more wheat beer! It caused my brain to swell up like a sea monkey!

Top 5 reasons why I like to to drink at home:

1. I don’t have to drive! A plus for EVERYONE!

2. I can actually sit down and enjoy my beer! No standing around in a smokey bar holding my drink and feeling awkward.

3. I can snack ALL NIGHT LONG! Yummy cheese dip and chips! Yummy cheese and crackers! Yummy hot wings and celery! De-li-cious!

4. I can say outrageous things and no one will try to pick a fight with me (unless, I am really drunk and start to talk about politics and religion with friends and family- A big NO NO!)

5. I save $$! And no, I am not investing it in the stock market! NO! NO! NO!

Daydreaming at Work

It’s hard to believe that I can honestly say I have seven years of professional work experience (professional, sometimes). I still remember my freshman year in high school wearing flannel and listening to Pearl Jam. I remember idolizing the school’s heartthrob, Mike M, and waiting for him to walk by my fifth hour class. I would never say anything to him. Of course not. I would just stare.

Now, I am a part of America’s cubicle farm. Where millions of us sit in front of a computer waiting for the little yellow envelope to appear for some excitement. Sometimes, we get a little silly and go on Facebook during work hours for a quick peek. So rebellious. It’s funny how in 15 years, I went from stalking a guy in the hallway to stalking status updates on the Internet. And occasionally, while committing my scandalous visits to Facebook, I dream a little dream to ease the pain of policies and procedures.

I daydream about beer and how my mouth waters with anticipation when I pour it into a frosted glass mug.

I daydream about Aruba and how relaxing it is to sit on the sandy beach drinking beer and eating peanuts.

I daydream about Margaritas served on the rocks with salt.

I daydream about all the different types of shots. Red headed sluts. Kamikazes. Lemon drops. Just to name a few.

I daydream about late night snacks and drinking beer. Yum. Cheesy spinach artichoke dip and chips. Hot buffalo wings. Potato Chips. Yum. Yum. Yum.

I daydream about going to local bars while on vacation and hanging out with the friendly happy locals.

I daydream about rooting for the home team with a hot dog in one hand and a 32 oz. beer in the other.

Oh, the list goes on and on and on and on…
